Saturday, September 17, 10am – 2pm will be the first fundraising event of the year for McKinley Elementary! Bring your dirty cars and bicycles, your appetites, and a desire to have some fun. This event is a great chance to get to know the members of the community and raise awareness about our wonderful school. Also, thanks to John Perry, some San Francisco mayoral candidates will be there to help (but not campaign!). Plus, children enjoy washing cars.
How can you get involved? We need volunteers to wash cars and work at the bake sale, we need donations of food for the bake sale, and we need (temporary) donations of hoses, spray guns, soap, and towels! (Seriously, we need lots and lots of hoses and towels.)
This event is powered by volunteer effort and we have the following needs:
- Lend us your hoses & nozzles – you can bring these to school on Friday, September 16. Leave on the stage.
- Donate food – large individually wrapped baked goods & sandwiches & beverages. Leave in the office on Friday or bring up Saturday morning.
- Help set up (9-10am): we need at least 5 people!
- Help clean up (2-3pm): we need at least 10 people!
- Help wash cars – get wet & have fun: we need at least 10 people per hour!
- Kids can hold signs out on the sidewalk – they love this
- Bring your dirty cars & invite neighbors & friends to bring theirs – lots of cars = lots of $
- Post about the event on your Facebook wall and use Twitter to get the word out
- Work at the bake sale table: we need at least 5 people at a time!
- Purchase and devour bake sale items – enjoy the over-the-top culinary talents of the Mckinley parents!
- Just come on out to socialize – it’s a great way to break the ice & make new friends
